Thetha Nathi in the Cape Winelands District
The Speaker of the Western Cape Provincial Parliament (WCPP), Honourable Masizole Mnqasela, will host four sessions of the institution’s public engagement programme, Thetha Nathi, in various areas in the Cape Winelands District from 19 to 22 July 2022, including:
• 19 July: Stellenbosch;
Standing Committee on Health to engage with public on COVID-19 vaccinations
The Western Cape Provincial Parliament’s Standing Committee on Health is conducting public engagements in areas with low COVID-19 vaccination rollout across the province to engage and encourage the public to vaccinate.
The committee has invited the provincial Department of Health to attend the public engagements and brief the public on the COVID-19 vaccination (with specific reference to Mitchells Plain), vaccination benefits, and COVID-19 booster and answer any questions of clarity from the public.
Thetha Nathi rolled out in Cape Metro
The Speaker of the Western Cape Provincial Parliament (WCPP), Honourable Masizole Mnqasela, will host four sessions of the institution’s public engagement programme, Thetha Nathi, in various areas in the Cape Town Metropolitan Municipality during March 2022, including:
• 17 March: Bellville;
• 18 March: Bloubergstrand
• 22 March: Mitchells Plain; and
• 23 March: Khayelitsha.
WCPP in solidarity with Ukraine for peace, justice and democracy
The recent invasion and aggression by Russia in Ukraine is a crime against humanity. The invasion by Russia has led to massive human rights violations and the contravention of international treaties and protocols affecting the sovereignty of Ukraine and its people. The Western Cape Provincial Parliament (WCPP) joins the global condemnation of Russia's attack on Ukranian civilians, mostly women and children. South Africa is a signatory to the United Nations Charter on Human Rights and has a moral obligation to defend the sovereignty and peace of all member states, including Ukraine.
Happy 2022 Cape Town Pride
Western Cape Provincial Parliament Speaker, Masizole Mnqasela wishes the LGBTQIA+ community a happy Pride weekend taking place in Cape Town from today, an annual event to raise awareness around the issues faced by the LGBTQIA+ community.

2022 State of the Province Address
The official opening ceremony of the Western Cape Provincial Parliament (WCPP) will take place on Tuesday, 15 February 2022 at the Velddrif Town Hall, Voortrekker Road, Velddrif, and via live feed in parallel in the WCPP Chamber, 7 Wale Street, Cape Town. Apart from these two venues, some Members will participate via online platform. The Premier will deliver his State of the Province Address during the sitting at 10:45.
