In the light of safety and security challenges, including muggings and criminal attacks, that have an impact on visitors in the open-access areas of the Table Mountain National Park (TMNP) footprint:
- What is (a) the current status and (b) progress regarding the finalisation of the Heads of Agreement (HOA) between the City of Cape Town, SANParks and CapeNature aimed at coordinating management on the mountain;
- (a) What (i) specific roles, (ii) operational mandates, (iii) enforcement responsibil-ities and (iv) property management agreements are expected to be performed by the agencies under current arrangements and (b) how will this address (i) safety con-cerns, (ii) streamlining joint law enforcement deployments and (iii) maximising monitoring capacity to combat crime across the mountain chain effectively?
(1) (a) The Department and CapeNature are not involved in visitor safety and security in relation to the Table Mountain National Park.
(b) The Department and CapeNature are not parties to the Heads of Agreement.
