Question Number:

Question Body:

Whether she has engaged with the South African Police Service and the Provincial Commissioner regarding urgent plans to fill vacancies at the ten worst-affected SAPS stations; if so, what commitments were received?

Answer Body:

During numerous community engagements where concerns were raised regarding the negative effects of not having permanently appointed Station Commanders, commitments were made on public platforms by the Senior Leadership of the SAPS in the province to prioritise the filling of these posts. During these engagements I consistently emphasised the need to urgently fill all vacant managerial positions at station level in order to ensure stability, improve accountability, and strengthen service delivery within affected precincts. I also noted that, during his budget speech, the Acting Minister of Police committed to prioritise fixing the top 50 murder stations in the country as part his turnaround strategy and that would include the appointment of permanent Station Commanders.
