How many inner-city housing development projects are currently active in the province and (b)(i) what are the names of the inner-city housing development projects, (ii) what is the current status of the projects, (iii) when is occupancy expected to commence at each development, (iv) how many residential units have been completed for each project, (v) what are the expected occupancy timelines for each development, (vi) what delays have been experienced in each project and (vii) what corrective measures have been implemented?

  1. There are five active projects in the province

(b)(i)  Leeuloop,

           Founders Garden

           Provincial Pavement Testing Lab (PPTL)

           353 on Main (Tafelberg)

           10 on Fort Wynyard: (Helen Bowden)

(ii)      Leeuloop: developer appointment

         -Founders Garden: developer procurement

         -Provincial Pavement Testing Lab: developer procurement

-353 on Main (Tafelberg): Land Use Management and Heritage Statutory processes

-10 on Fort Wynyard: Predisposal consultation

(iii)     Three years following site handover to the developer

(iv)   The projects are at stages where completion of residential units is not practical.

(v)   Three years following site handover to the developer

(vi)   10 on Fort Wynyard – unlawful occupation delayed the development of the precinct. A minimum of 302 social housing opportunities is proposed for this precinct and could already have been provided within the past 7 years.

(vii)      Development rights were initially granted in 2019 and final extension of validity of the original zoning approval was obtained until 7 March 2029.
