Question Body:
  1. What impact will the MyCiTi expansion have on the operational sustainability of the Golden Arrow Bus Services, (b) which Golden Arrow routes are expected to be affected as a result of the MyCiti expansion and (c) what measures are in place to ensure integration, rather than duplication, between the MyCiTi and the Golden Arrow services?
Answer Body:
  1. It is envisaged that the MyCiti expansion will form part of the larger implementation of an Integrated Public Transport Network (IPTN) in Cape Town, therefore GABS services are to be adjusted accordingly over time as the MyCiti expansion is implemented. The operational sustainability will form part of the negotiations moving forward.
  2. The routes to be affected will be identified once the final MyCiti operational plan has been established, but it would be all GABS routes operated within the MyCiti new roll-out phase, more particularly in the Metro South East area.
  3. Discussions between GABS, the Department and the City of Cape Town are ongoing for the possible integration of the various public transport services which may be affected as the MyCiti expansion is rolled out. The focus of the discussions is to ensure that commuters are not left stranded should services be adjusted, cancelled, or changed.
