Date: Wednesday 6 May 2026
Time: 13:00 – 17:00
Venue: Vredendal-South Community Hall, Dam Street, Vredendal South
The purpose of this public engagement is to provide a platform for communities and stakeholders to raise awareness of the challenges affecting children, including child labour, school dropout, teenage pregnancy, statutory offences, limited access to child protection services, and service delivery gaps in Vredendal and surrounding communities.
The engagement further aims to enable communities and relevant stakeholders to share their experiences, identify systemic gaps and challenges within child protection services, and contribute to developing effective strategies to address crimes against children, while strengthening the protection and overall well-being of children in the region.
Interested stakeholders and organisations are encouraged to attend and actively participate in the engagement. Participants will have an opportunity to provide verbal and written submissions on possible strategies and solutions to address the challenges surrounding Child Protection Services in the West Coast.
The Ad Hoc Committee on Child Protection Reform looks forward to a meaningful and constructive engagement with all stakeholders as part of its oversight mandate to strengthen child protection services and ensure that the rights, safety, and well-being of children are upheld.
Your participation will contribute significantly to shaping responsive and effective child protection interventions in the province.
