SOPA 2026 Debate

During a sitting of the House in George earlier today, Members of the Western Cape Provincial Parliament participated in the debate on Premier Alan Winde’s 2026 State of the Province Address (SOPA). Premier Winde replied to the debate later in the morning.

“It was a great privilege for the Western Cape Provincial Parliament to host the Official Opening and State of the Province Address for 2026 in the Garden Route. Thank you to the people of George for receiving us with open arms and your willingness to host this important event on the annual parliamentary calendar. The Western Cape Provincial Parliament has been able to procure almost 50 % of the services needed to host this event, in the Garden Route,” said Speaker Daylin Mitchell. “We hope the inroads we made in the Garden Route have contributed to your ability to participate in our democratic processes”.
