What referral pathway gaps exist in legislation, policy and implementation when
it comes to addressing teenage pregnancy at schools?
Answer Body:
The replies to question 6 of 22 May 2025, question 6 of 17 October 2025 and
questions 12 and 20 of 14 November 2025, outline the data on learner
pregnancies available to the Department and the policies and protocols in
place to support learners. Of concern are instances were a learner leaves
school without indicating a pregnancy as the reason for absence, making
supporting the learner difficult.
