2026 Official Opening and SOPA to be hosted in George

“I am excited to announce that the Official Opening of the third session of the Seventh Parliament of the Western Cape and the Premier’s State of the Province Address (SOPA) will take place on Wednesday 25 February 2026 at the Conville Community Hall, 1 Pienaar Street, Conville, George, at 18:30,” said Speaker Daylin Mitchell. “The debate on SOPA and the Premier’s reply will take place at the same venue on Thursday 26 February 2026 at 08:00 and 12:00 respectively.”

He continued, “The Western Cape Provincial Parliament (WCPP) is committed to deepening democracy and endeavours to provide access to its activities to people from across the province. Since 2019, we have hosted this important event in Mitchells Plain in the Cape metropolitan district, in Genadendal in the Overberg district, in Velddrif in the West Coast district, in Paarl in the Cape Winelands district and in Beaufort West in the Central Karoo district. Hosting this event in George in the Garden Route district in 2026 means that the WCPP will have taken this event to all six districts in the Western Cape.”

As in the past, the event will be livestreamed on the WCPP’s social media channels for those individuals who cannot attend in person.
