With regard to the water tanker assistance rendered by the George Municipality to the Knysna Municipality over the past 12 months in response to water outages:

(a)  What was the total number of water tankers dispatched from the George Municipality to the Knysna Municipality, (b) what was the total volume of water delivered by these tankers, expressed in litre (ℓ), (c) what was the total cost incurred by the George Municipality for this service, itemised by (i) fuel and (ii) staff overtime, and (d) what critical infrastructure (for example hospitals, main reservoirs) received priority water delivery from the tankers of the George Municipality?

Answer Body: 

(a)  The George Municipality dispatched 1 x 35 000 water tanker.

(b) The total volume of water delivered by the tanker was 105 000 .

(c) The total costs incurred by the George Municipality were as follows:

      (i)  No fuel costs were approximately R1500.

      (ii) No overtime as the callout was incurred during dayshift working hours.

(d) The water was delivered to the Knysna Municipality’s reservoirs, and therefore fed directly into the water supply system. The water was not delivered to priority sites as this was not necessary.
