- How many visitors participated in CapeNature’s 11th annual Access Week, (b) how does this figure compare with the 10th Access Week, (c) what public activities, educational events or community initiatives were hosted during the campaign and (d) what feedback has CapeNature received from participants or partners regarding the (i) success and (ii) impact of the 11th annual Access Week?
(a) A total of 9 543 visitors were given free access during 20 – 26 September 2025.
(b) In 2024, 9 027 free entries were given over the week of 19 to 24 September. Entries therefore increased with 6% in 2025.
(c) CapeNature hosted 16 facilitated programmes at its reserves during the week for 13 communities across the Western Cape including Langkloof , Kleineville, Lugangolo , Chatsworth, Riverlands, Knysna, Oudshoorn, Groendal, Idas Valley, Noordhoek, Mamre, Lavender Hill, Lamberts Bay and Swellendam. Groups included youth groups, schools, foundations, clubs and special needs groups. The programmes included activities that were designed to strengthen participants connection with and enjoyment of nature. In addition to the in-person events, an online competition was held for the general public on CapeNature’s social media platforms.
(d) (i) Feedback has been extremely positive with positive sentiments and comments shared by the public both on our social media platforms and in person to facilitators.
(ii) Post assessments are currently being completed to assess impact.
