Recent reports have highlighted allegations of corruption and maladministration in the

Independent Development Trust (IDT), and considering the IDT’s role as a key implementing

agent for infrastructure projects across the country, including the Western Cape:

1. (a) What specific IDT projects are currently being implemented in the province and (b) what is their current status;

2. whether any of these projects have been delayed, disrupted or otherwise negatively  impacted due to allegations or findings of corruption at the IDT; if so, what are detailed examples of this;

3. what measures is his Department taking to ensure that provincial infrastructure delivery is not compromised by issues at implementing agencies, such as the IDT;

4. whether there are any ongoing investigations involving IDT projects in the province; if so, (a) what are the relevant details and (b) how is the Department cooperating with the relevant authorities to safeguard public funds and service delivery;

5. what steps is his Department taking to prevent future disruptions to critical infra-structure projects caused by external implementing agencies facing corruption challenges?
