Whether the national Department of Agriculture has released the conditional grant funding under the Comprehensive Agricultural Support Programme (CASP) to support emerging farmers in the province; if not, what impact have the delays in CASP funding had on planting or production cycles this year; if so, what are the relevant details?
Yes, the Department received both quarter one (1) and quarter two (2) transfer payments during early August, and the Department is currently busy with the Transfer Payment Agreements (TPAs) to our project management partners. Due to the delays, the fruit, wine and table grape new plantings will have to be post-poned till next season. The total number of hectares impacted, inclusive of all 3 commodities, is 29,65ha.
