Whether this Department has any plans to (a) increase the number of youth cafes and (b) increase their presence in areas outside the City of Cape Town; if not, why not; if so, what are the relevant details?
Answer Body:
- At present, the Department has no immediate plans to increase the number of Youth Cafés.
- This is primarily due to budgetary constraints and the limited availability of private sector partners or donors to support the establishment and sustainable operation of additional sites. While the Department recognizes the need for broader geographical coverage within the boundaries of the City of Cape Town as well as in the other five District Municipal areas, expansion efforts are currently curtailed by financial and resource limitations. Currently, most youth cafés are outside the Cape Metro.
