Considering the operational demands placed on the SAPS Durbanville Police Station and the growing population in its jurisdiction:

  1. Whether there are any existing or proposed plans by the South African Police Service (SAPS), the national Department of Public Works and Infrastructure or any other relevant authority to upgrade, renovate, expand or replace the existing infrastructure and facilities of the SAPS Durbanville Police Station; if so, (a) what is the scope and nature of the proposed upgrades or developments, (b) what is the projected timeline for the commencement and completion, (c) what is the estimated or allocated budget for the project and (d) what is the expected impact on service delivery and oper-ational capacity; if not, what are the reasons for the absence of the planned infra-structure upgrades;
  2. whether an assessment has been conducted on the adequacy of the current facilities relative to the policing demands in Durbanville; if so, what are the relevant details; if not;
  3. whether there are any mechanisms in place to review and address the infrastructure shortfalls at the Durbanville Police Station in the near future; if so, what are the relevant details?
Answer Body: 

     (1)  There is currently no existing or proposed plans to upgrade, renovate, expand or replace the existing infrastructure and facilities of the Durbanville Police Station.

      (2)  An assessment was conducted, and it was found that the Station is currently over-utilised.

            As a result, the Police Station was placed on the province’s User Asset Management Plan (UAMP) for the addition of 2 park homes along with additional accommodation for the Support Services component in the form of a leasehold.

            The UAMP was submitted to the Divisional Commissioner Supply Chain Management during January 2025, for prioritisation. No timeless for the delivery of park homes or the leasing of the additional accommodation, are available.
