With regard to engagements on the upgrade of the Pacaltsdorp Clinic through the NHI initiative:
(1)(a)(i) When will the upgrade take place and (ii) how long will it take and (b) what will the upgrade entail;
(2) whether a contractor has been appointed; if so, what are the relevant details?
(1)(a)(i)(ii)
The project to upgrade the Pacaltsdorp Clinic forms part of the capital infrastructure component of the NHI grant that was initiated by the National Government.
I am informed that there is a legal dispute between the National Department of Health, as the client, and the Infrastructure Development Trust, as the implementing agent, and this has not yet been resolved.
Questions regarding the timelines and scope should therefore be directed at the National Department of Health.
(2) Questions regarding the appointment of a contractor should be directed to the National Department of Health. However, I believe that the procurement cannot proceed while there is a ongoing dispute.
The Department has written to the Director General of the National Department of Health and I have written to the National Minister of Health to raise our serious concerns about the non-delivery of this project.
