With regard to sport infrastructure:
- Whether he or his Department has a database of municipal infrastructure aimed at sport and recreation; if so,
- whether the database identifies municipal infrastructure that is in need of maintenance; if so, (a) which projects are being assisted by the Province and (b) what is form of assistance is provided for each project?
- The Department does not have a database of municipal infrastructure. The responsibility for the provision, maintenance, and upgrading of sport and recreation facilities lies with municipalities in accordance with Schedule 5, Part B of the Constitution. However, the Department maintains a working database of applications (For Voted Funds) submitted by municipalities seeking support for sport infrastructure development or refurbishment. This database is updated annually.
In addition, the department also maintains a working database of the DSAC ring-fenced allocation Projects that are funded through the Municipal Infrastructure Grant (MIG).
