- What cultural organisations are currently receiving support from his Department and (b) what is the nature of the support provided to these cultural organisations?
Answer Body:
(a) The funding process to arts organisations to be disbursed in the 2025/26 financial year is currently underway and nearing completion. The allocation of the funding of cultural organisations for the 2024/25 financial year was to 78 arts organisations, 6 arts companies and 6 individuals (artists). The list will be made available on request.
The financial support provided to these cultural organisations is broadly aimed at fostering arts, culture, and heritage within the Western Cape. The nature of support is diverse and encompasses:
- Operational and Maintenance Costs
- Programme and Project Funding
- Skills Development and Training
- Community Outreach and Development
- Job Creation and Employment Opportunities
- Preservation of Cultural Heritage
- Audience Development
- Infrastructure and Platform Development
- Specific Event and Festival Logistics
- Capacity Building
In essence, the support is comprehensive, addressing both the foundational needs of cultural institutions and the dynamic aspects of artistic creation, education, and community engagement.
