New Secretary

Ms Ressida Begg recently assumed the role of Secretary to the Western Cape Provincial Parliament.

Ms Begg is no stranger to the Western Cape Provincial Parliament having started her career as a Legal Adviser at the Provincial Parliament in 1999. She later progressed to the roles of Director: Legislation and Oversight and Deputy Secretary: Procedural Services. In 2015, Ms Begg joined the Parliament of South Africa in the capacity as Division Manager: Core Business Support.

Besides more than two decades of experience in the legislative sector, she also holds a BA LLB degree from the University of Cape Town and an Honours degree in public administration. Ms Begg also completed the Parliamentary Executive Development Programme at Stellenbosch University and is currently pursuing her master’s degree in Comparative Constitutional Law.
