With reference to his reply to question 4 of 4 April 2025:
(1) On how many educator posts was this R19,699 billion allocation based;
(2) what is the detailed financial breakdown showing how the R19,954 billion figure was calculated from the adjusted Cost of Employment budget, beyond the general factors already mentioned in the reply of 4 April 2025;
(3) with reference to teacher post reductions and the impact on the budget, given the savings from post reductions, what is the detailed breakdown of how these savings have affected allocations over the MTEF period?
My department has informed me of the following:
1. (1) 37 135 (approved Basket of Posts for 2024).
(2) Based on estimations used in calculating the Basket of Posts for educators, about 87.85% of the total budget has been allocated towards the funding of educator posts. Therefore, 87.85% of the total CoE Adjusted budget equates to R19,954 billion.
(3) The anticipated saving on the post reduction of 2 407 would reduce the projected CoE cost (of approved 37 135 basket for 2024) with R1,191 billion for 2025/26, R1,254 billion for 2026/27 and R1,328 billion for 2027/28, to secure the sustainable reduced Basket of Post for 34 728 educator posts.
