With regard to SAPS vehicles:
(1) How many vehicles are needed to service the Beaufort-West police precinct fully;
(2) whether the current operational vehicle fleet is sufficient; if not, (a) what is the shortfall and (b) what are the reasons for the shortfall;
(3) what are the steps taken by the SAPS to ensure that a full complement of vehicles is always available?
(1) A total of 45 vehicles are required, and have been granted. At present, 36 vehicles are operational.
(2) The current situation is not ideal.

(3) Effective monitoring of vehicle repair turnaround times is essential to ensuring minimal downtime and maintaining operational efficiency. Timely repairs help keep the fleet fully functional, reducing disruptions to daily activities. Additionally, the potential allocation or redistribution of new vehicles to the station is central for meeting operational demands and replacing aging or unserviceable units. SAPS Western Cape regularly assesses each station to ensure an adequate number of vehicles based on operational requirements.
