With regard to the Port of Cape Town’s performance in January 2025:
What was the (i) average waiting time for berth utilisation and occupancy for container ships and (ii) target for the month, (b) what was the (i) average number of twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU) containers (aa) loaded and (bb) unloaded and (ii) target for the month, (c) what was the (i) average waiting time for trucks being (aa) loaded and (bb) unloaded at the port and (ii) target for the month, (d) what was the (i) average ship turnaround time and (ii) target for the month, (e) what was the (i) average anchorage waiting time and (ii) target for the month and (f) what was the (i) average container dwell time and (ii) target for the month
(i) Average waiting time to berth at Cape Town container terminals from 1 to 31 January 2025 was 2 days and 5 hours (DEDAT, Port of Cape Town Digital Logistics Planning Platform, DLPP)
(ii) Target is 1 day or less.
(b) (i) (aa) TEU’s loaded and offloaded at CTCT from 6 January to 2 February 2025 were 49,901
(bb) The split between TEU’s loaded and offloaded for January 2025 is not yet available.
(ii) Target for the period was 60,540

(c) (i)(aa) Average waiting time for trucks to be loaded and unloaded from 13 January to 2 February 2025 was 90 minutes
(bb) The difference between the loading and offloading of trucks is not reported.
(ii) The target for trucks to be turned around in CTCT is 40 minutes.

(ii) Target for ship turnaround time is less than 4 days.
(e) (i) Average time at berth was 3 days
(ii) Target for time at berth is less than 3 days

(f) (i) Average container dwell time in CTCT from 13 January to 2 February 2025 was 1.9 days for imports and 2.4 for exports.
(ii) The dwell time target is 3 days for imports and 6 days for exports.
