With regard to the ban imposed by People’s Republic of China on the Minister of Agriculture, Economic Development and Tourism:
- Whether the visit by the Minister to Taiwan was an official visit sanctioned by the Western Cape Government; if so, (a) what was the objectives of the visit, (b) what are the details of his meetings during the visit and (c) what agreements were concluded during the visit;
- whether the national government was consulted beforehand; if so, what are the relevant details;
- whether the Western Cape Government recognises and respects the national government’s commitment to the One-China Policy; if so, what measures are in place to ensure that provincial officials align themselves with this policy;
- whether the Western Cape Government currently has any formal trade relations with Taiwan; if not, why not; if so, (a) what are the details of the (i) engagements, (ii) agreements and (iii) trade volumes and (b) what economic impact assessments have been conducted;
- what is the (a) total value and (b) breakdown of the trade between the province and China for (i) imports and (ii) exports since 2020?
