Premier
With regard to the recent decision of the International Criminal Court to issue a warrant of the arrest for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu:
Whether he will instruct the Western Cape Government to have Netanyahu arrested by the Law Enforcement Advancement Plan (LEAP) officers if the South African Police Service fails to arrest him if and when he sets foot in the Western Cape?
The Western Cape Government has been consistent in its stance that the rule of local, national, and international law must be obeyed.
It is thus the view of this government that any arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC) is legally binding on authorities within our country under the terms of the Rome Statute.
