  1. The Departments of Agriculture and Economic Development and Tourism have invested R31.9 million and R622 590 into the Kannaland Municipality respectively between 2011 and 2014. Both departments have provided a full suite of services to the region.

In addition,  the economic investment support includes assistance to livestock farming , namely sheep and wool which received R2 129 274 and Piggery which received R623 048.  Food security support (subsistence farming) comprised of a creche park, clinic gardens and household food gardens.

The Department also conducted farmer days and information days to strengthen farmers knowldege and  improve production. A total of 110 households had been reached over the same period through the Department’s suitcase programme, i.e. household food production packages for own food production.

The Programme:  Structured Agriculture Education and Training is also actively involved in skills development in the Kannaland Municipal area through continuous client liaison, marketing initiatives, Learnership and skills- and formal training.

Students in the area also received bursaries, participated in learnerships or registered for courses. A further 80 residents participated in training.
