(1) How many interview panels did the Minister participate in since occupying the Ministry of Community Safety set out according to (a) post (b) and salary level;

(2) whether it is normal practice for a Minister to sit in on an interview for the post level of Deputy Director (level 11); if so, what are the relevant details;

(3) whether a close associate of the Minister, whose name has been furnished to his Department for the purpose of his reply, was shortlisted for any Deputy Director post in his Department; if so, (a) for which post, (b) what was the minimum criteria for the post and (c) did this person meet that criteria?

[1] – [2]    Though I cannot answer on behalf of other Ministers or what they regard as normal practice, I have only sat in on interviews for the position of Head of Department and posts of Chief Directors. To this extent I sat on the interview panels for 3 positions:
