(1) (a) How many cases has the Western Cape Provincial Police Ombudsman (i) received, (ii) referred, (iii) investigated and (iv) investigated and finalised between January 2015 and January 2016, (b) how many complainants were satisfied with the outcome of their cases and (c) for which reasons were cases referred in (a)(ii);
(2) whether he has referred any cases to the Ombudsman, if so, how many have been (a) referred elsewhere and (b) investigated and finalised?

[ii] 8 - Matters were referred to IPID, GP DOCS, PC Office and DPP.
[iii] 125 – pending preliminary investigations
[iv] 122 – preliminary investigations conducted and finalised
31 - Matters which did not require investigations, unlike the 247 matters in [iii] and [iv] above.
[b] Statistics in this regard has not been kept as this is not a requirement in terms of S13 of the Act, read with S15[3] of the Regulations.
However, we have identified the need to keep a record of this and will therefore be implementing a client feedback form in the new financial year
[c] These matters were not within our mandate which could be best dealt with by other departments.
