- What are the reasons for the delay of the opening of the ambulance station in
Heidelberg, (b) when will the station open and (c) what area(s) will the ambulance service cover?
Answer Body:
- Although it is envisaged that the Heildelberg Ambulance station will officially be opened on 17 July 2015, it has been operational since April 2014. The building was practically completed and handed over to Western Cape Government Health by the Western Cape Department of Transport and Public Works in May 2014. The Department of Public Works rectified all minor problems from 24 October 2014 and final completion (at the end of the guarantee period) was on 12 February 2015.
- 17 July 2015 and will provide the full operation of this service which services the town of Heidelberg and surrounding farming areas as well as the town of Slangrivier with a total population of approximately 50 000.
