The right of Members to put questions to Ministers is an important part of ensuring the executive authority’s accountability to the Provincial Parliament. Questions may be put to Ministers related to their spheres of responsibility. Replies to questions are either given orally in the House or in writing. The replies to oral questions are recorded in Hansard.

(a)    How many (i) litres of hand sanitiser have been made available at each police station in the province, (ii) bottles of hand sanitisers are available to the public at each police station and (iii) litres of hand sanitiser have been distributed to police officers in the province, (b) how many masks have been made available to police officers in the province and (c)(i) who is responsible for purchasing these supplies and (ii) what process must be followed when procuring these goods?

With regard to police stations in the Mitchells Plain area:

(1)    Whether the SAPS supplies sanitary pads to female visitors, victims and those arrested who might need them; if so, (a) how many does the SAPS keep in stock and (b) how are these sanitary pads distributed;

(2)    whether support is given to women or men who are victims of sexual violence; if not, why not; if so, what is the process for receiving such support?

  1. (1) Whether this conflict was a risk that should have been included in the report to the Provincial Cabinet; if not, why not; if so, why was it not reported to the Provincial Cabinet;

(2)    (a) what is the number and details of the (i) elderly, (ii) disabled persons and children and (iii) child-headed households that have applied for housing subsidies in the Witzenberg Local Municipality and (b) what are the details and updates of each application;

(3)    what programmes are in place in his Department to assist the elderly, the disabled and child-headed households to receive houses in the province?

With reference to this claim in her 2021 Western Cape Education budget speech: “Now that we have data from the annual SNAP Survey to indicate the exact areas of growth and demand, our Head of Department has recently approved 342 additional teaching posts in areas where the demand for places is growing quickly. This is in addition to the 429 posts added in 2020.”:

(1)    What is the detailed breakdown of the annual SNAP Survey, including (a) the breakdown of learner population growth per education district in the (i) 2019 and (ii) 2020 academic year and (b) the details of class sizes per quintiles;

(2)    (a) what is the detailed breakdown of the allocation of additional teaching posts per school in the (i) 2019, (ii) 2020 and (iii) 2021 academic years and (b) what criteria were used for determining this allocation?
