  1. Whether her Department has put any interventions in place to prevent the further spread of the disease; if not, why not; if so, what are the relevant details;
  2. how many vaccination sites are currently administering measles vaccines in the prov-ince;
  3. whether her Department possess an adequate supply of measles vaccines; if so, what are the relevant details?

  1. (a) What is his Department’s current evaluation of the foot and mouth disease (FMD) outbreak, given reports of cases linked to livestock movements from the province, and (b) from which districts or municipalities did the affected animals originate;
  2. (a) what measures have been implemented by his Department to contain and control the disease in affected or high-risk areas and (b) how are these efforts being coord-inated with the national veterinary authorities;
  3. (a) what protocols are in place to detect and report suspected cases of FMD and (b) what awareness or compliance campaigns have been rolled out to ensure adher-ence to these requirements;

security for the 2025/26 festive season and (b) how will it be spent;
(2) (a) which areas have been identified as hotspots for crime, vandalism or

the total cost to his Department for repairs, replacements and security

in terms of (a) section 110(1) of the Children’s Act, 2005 (Act 38 of 2005), or

Acknowledging that scores of young people in the province face intersecting threats of gang recruitment, substance abuse and violence:

(a)  (i) Why do his Department’s youth development programmes (such as youth cafés and EPWP placements) reach fewer than 15 000 young people and (ii) what is the concrete plan to scale these interventions to match the scale of need,

(b) how does his Department specifically (i) target and (ii) measure the impact of its programmes on the youth in the top 20 most high-risk crime precincts in order to prevent gang recruitment and

(c) what are the details of his Department’s programmes intended to prevent (i) gang recruitment, (ii) substance abuse and (iii) other social ills have been implemented in the top 10 murder precincts in the province from 2019 to 2025 to date?

Given that the Department’s own data indicates that 18,1% of Western Cape households experience inadequate access to food:

(1)(a)(i) Why did his Department’s programmes only reach 22 128 individuals through its nutrition centres in the last financial year and (ii) what specific and measurable plan does his Department have to bridge this gap between need and reach, (b)(i) what are the reasons for the under expenditure in the Poverty Alleviation and Sustainable Livelihoods Programme in the previous year and (ii) how will these reasons be addressed to ensure that the budget is directed to those in crisis and (c) with only 102 community nutrition and development centres (CNDCs) in the province, what are his Department’s (i) plans and (ii) time frames to expand this network to underserved areas, particularly in rural and farming communities;

(2)(a) what is the breakdown of CNDCs per municipality, (b) what is the number of persons who have access to these centres per municipality and (c) what is the number of people in need who are being left out?

Regarding the informal settlement called COVID-19:

  1. Whether the people in the informal settlement have access to basic services such as (a) clean and safe running water, (b) adequate sanitation facilities and (c) access to safe and reliable electricity power; if not, why not; if so, what are the relevant details;
  2. whether his Department has engaged the community of COVID-19, or any other informal settlement in the Cape Flats, on basic services and development in the current year; if so, how many?
