The right of Members to put questions to Ministers is an important part of ensuring the executive authority’s accountability to the Provincial Parliament. Questions may be put to Ministers related to their spheres of responsibility. Replies to questions are either given orally in the House or in writing. In relation to the effects of load-shedding on the healthcare facilities in the Western Cape:
(1) Which municipalities in the Western Cape are able to exempt healthcare facilities from experiencing load-shedding;
(2) of those municipalities in (1) above, which healthcare facilities in each municipality currently do not experience load-shedding;
(3) how often does the Department meet with the municipalities in (1) above to ensure that there is sufficient capacity to supply electricity to the aforementioned healthcare facilities;
(4) does the Department have any plans to engage with more (a) stakeholders and (b) municipalities to assist healthcare facilities further with not experiencing load-shedding?
