Standing committees will continue with meetings this week. On Wednesday, 4 August, the Standing Committee on Health will conduct an oversight visit to the COVID-vaccination sites at the CTICC.

TUESDAY, 3 AUGUST

 

09:00: The Standing Committee on Local Government will be briefed by the Department on its first quarterly performance report (April 2021 – June 2021) and expenditure report for the same period.

13:00: The Standing Committee on Agriculture, Environmental Affairs and Development Planning will meet with the Department of Environmental Affairs and Development Planning on its Biomass Programme and Aviation Fuel Study to find out how biomass can be used as an opportunity for energy security and aviation fuel. The committee will also meet with CapeNature on the various species of Blue Gum with specific reference to its classification, the issuing of permits and the role that it plays in the ecosystem.

WEDNESDAY, 4 AUGUST

 

09:00: The Standing Committee on Health will conduct oversight visits to the vaccination sites in the Cape Town International Convention Centre and the wellness vaccination bus to assess the COVID-vaccine roll-out.

14:00: The Standing Committee on Finance, Economic Opportunities and Tourism to discuss the submissions received on the Unemployment Insurance Fund’s Temporary Employer/Employee Relief Scheme (TERS) process. The committee will also deliberate on the resolutions for the draft committee report on the oversight visit to Transnet’s Port of Cape Town, which took place on 23 June 2021.
