WHAT’S ON

This week the Western Cape Provincial Parliament’s standing committees will continue to meet.

 

The Standing Committee on the Premier and Constitutional Matters will hold two public hearings on the Constitution of the Western Cape First Amendment Bill [B1 -2021]: on Tuesday, 11 May in Mossel Bay and on Wednesday, 12 May in George. TUESDAY, 11 MAY

 

09:00: The Standing Committee on Transport and Public Works will be briefed by the Department of Transport and Public Works on the recent developments to improve commuter safety and the partnership between Golden Arrow Bus Service, the Western Cape Government, and the City of Cape Town to ensure the stability and safety of the bus service, highlighting the role, functions, responsibilities and challenges of the various role players in the partnership.

09:00: The Standing Committee on the Premier and Constitutional Matters will embark on an oversight visit to assess the activities at the Mossel Bay Cape Access Centre.

15:00: The Department of the Premier will provide a briefing on the Constitution of the Western Cape First Amendment Bill [B1 -2021] at a public hearing that will be held by the Standing Committee on the Premier and Constitutional Matters in the Mossel Bay Town Hall.

WEDNESDAY, 12 MAY

 

09:00: The Standing Committee on Finance, Economic Opportunities and Tourism will meet with the Department of Employment and Labour and the Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) to discuss the challenges experienced with the financial administration of the COVID-19 Temporary Employer/Employee Relief Scheme (TERS) in the Western Cape, and the role the UIF played in supporting citizens in the province. Thereafter, the Committee will discuss the way forward for the public participation process on the COVID-19 TERS inquiry.

09:00: The Standing Committee on Health will be briefed by the Department of Health on the process followed by hospitals in the province in carrying out medical male circumcision.
