Hon Thembekile Richard Majola’s political career started in the 1990s serving on numerous committees and community organisations.

In 2000 Hon Majola was elected as an independent councillor for Middelpos and Diazville. He later joined the ANC and went on to serve as Deputy Mayor for the Saldanha Municipality. In 2004 he was elected as Mayor of the West Coast District Municipality.

In 2006 Hon Majola joined the DA and established branches for the party in Middelpos, Vredenburg and Morreesburg. Hon Majola has been a Member and Deputy Speaker of the Western Cape Provincial Parliament since 2009.

The WCPP consists of forty-two elected members.  Five political parties are represented in the Provincial Parliament.  They are as follows:
